How did your trip to Haiti inspire you?

I became a C2C Neighbor immediately after my first trip to Haïti; after being on the ground and meeting the locals – especially the kids – it just touches your heart. I’d never been to Haïti before even though my parents are from there. There’s been a stigma that stayed with my parents that left them fearful of the way things are there, an attitude of “never look back,” so they didn’t want me to go down.  But what I saw down there eliminated my fears and their fears. I even met up with some family members for the first time and that changed my perception. My parents felt good about the experience I had and it helped them to see things from another perspective. Since then, I’ve been back twice on my own, and my parents even went down with me. It wasn’t my intention, but it was a very special outcome of my association with C2C.
