What’s Happening
Hurricane Melissa unleashed 165 mile per hour winds and catastrophic flooding in Petit-Goâve, Haïti, collapsing homes and triggering deadly mudslides. 25 people, including 10 infants and children are reported dead.
Early Wednesday morning, Oct 29th, while the community was sleeping the La Digue river burst its banks, destroying lives, livelihoods, and entire roads. With over two dozen lives lost and many still missing, the need is urgent and heartbreaking.
Effective immediately, C2C’s Emergency Response Initiative is activated. With C2C’s 15-year partnership with local leaders, our on-the-ground Community Stakeholder Association Partners, APHD and ODCP, are conducting search-and-rescue missions, providing first aid, distributing food and clean water, and relocating families to temporary shelters, all while national aid struggles to reach isolated mountain zones.
What We’re Raising Funds For
Your support goes directly toward our emergency response for families devastated by Hurricane Melissa. This includes:
- Search & rescue missions led by trusted local partners
- Emergency food, clean water & medical supplies
- Women’ Hygiene Kits
- Temporary shelter for displaced families
- Trauma/Mental Health Support
- Long-term rebuilding for roads, homes, and basic infrastructure
Every dollar fuels life-saving work in areas where national and international resources have yet to reach. We know the people. They know the needs. We are already on the move.

The Emergency Response Initiative (ERI) aims to equip our Partner Communities to effectively respond to emergencies and disasters, fostering confidence and enabling them to take greater control over their communities’ health and wellness outcomes. By adapting, adjusting, and evolving, these communities can continue their journey towards self-sufficiency, making this effort critical for sustainable infrastructure and development.
This initiative addresses the unique challenges faced by isolated and vulnerable mountainside and rural countryside communities. It emphasizes the need for comprehensive planning and durable infrastructure to ensure readiness and efficiency in handling disasters (natural and man-made) when they strike.
Currently, the Mountainside Peasant Association is combating a resurgence of cholera. The Emergency Response Initiative (ERI) has been activated to help them respond to this crisis.
