Infrastructure and Economic Development in Haiti

Phase 1: Completed

Locate a water source and build a captage (water catchment structure) to surround and secure the spring.

Phase 2: Completed

Excavate an area on the mountaintop to support a large water tank-reservoir.

Phase 3:

Construct a pump house; complete with solar panels and batteries that will pump water to a nearby mountaintop.

Residents will be expected to pay a small fee for their water, the revenue of which will then go to the community water board for system maintenance and long-term development goals.
The road, water, health, and sanitation needs of our Partner Communities make up the Infrastructure/Economic Development Initiative. This initiative stands as a cornerstone of community infrastructure, serving as a fundamental catalyst for holistic development. This initiative embodies the essence of progress, recognizing that access to clean water and proper sanitation is the bedrock upon which all other endeavors flourish.

By addressing the foundational needs of clean water and sanitation, this initiative lays the groundwork for robust economic growth, ensuring that communities can flourish unburdened by waterborne illnesses that cripple productivity. Furthermore, it intertwines with educational aspirations, as improved health and sanitation reduce absenteeism among students and enable a more engaged learning environment.

In the realm of environmental stability, this initiative is a linchpin, as it curbs the pollution of vital water sources and promotes sustainable resource management. The symbiotic relationship between water, health, and sanitation cascades into the fabric of society, nurturing the health of individuals and fostering an environment in which prosperity, education, and ecological balance can thrive.

In essence, this initiative serves as a testament to the inextricable connection between foundational infrastructure and the holistic well-being of a community.

Focuses on These Areas

The C2C Health and Sanitation Initiative involves latrine construction in one community and a four-phase gravity fed, Water Distribution System in our Mountainside Partner Community that will provide them with access to clean, potable water. The terrain consists of numerous ridges, peaks, and valleys, which makes gathering water, mainly by women and children, at the local springs a challenging and time-consuming task.
