About C2C Haïti

Community2Community (C2C) believes in a world where communities in Haïti are self-sufficient. These communities would be able to secure their community’s basic needs: water, food, shelter, sanitation, and health/hygiene without the need for constant foreign aid. Our collaborative partnership model incorporates working with local communities of people in various professions, such as engineers, teachers, skilled trades and lay people in Haïti, that go unseen or underutilized.
C2C is different from other NGOs in that it works with the community to empower community…

Empowering Communities for Long-term Sustainability

For over 12 years, our vision has been to create self-sufficient communities by working WITH the community. We mobilize financial and human resources to achieve our mission work. After reaching and normalizing self-sufficiency, our Partner Communities will be self-sustainable via their economic development plans to increase their socio-economic status to lead healthy and prosperous lives. Our goal is that C2C is the last non-profit our Partner Communities would work with as they become self-sufficient. This is narrative-changing work. Community2Community working with our Partner Communities has resulted in progress with Dignity. C2C is different from other NGOs in that it works with the community to empower community and provide a foundation to allow for the long-term sustainability of the developed projects. Who or What is Partner Community? Our Partner Community is a group of people who are indigenous to the area. These people have intricate knowledge about the community’s needs because they are the community. They are engineers, teachers, parents, and various professionals who work hard to better their community’s way of life. Within these communities, they usually appoint a group of people, the Peasant Association, as representatives of the community to secure the resources needed to improve the way of life of community members.

Expose. Educate. Engage.

Our Purpose: the C2C 3e’s

Expose

Introduce C2C to new neighbors, churches, and friends through stories, events, and simple ways to connect. Inspiration leads to relationship—and relationship fuels impact.

Educate

Understand HRTP’s approach, metrics, and progress. Our trainings and briefings equip supporters to give, advocate, and collaborate with confidence.

Engage

Say yes to action—volunteer, co-host an event, start a partnership, or underwrite a project. Your next step moves the mission forward. Bring a lasting change.
The proverb says, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.” C2C goes one step further: we help the community get access to the lake. That is how a sustainable community is created.

This is the essence of C2C creating self-sufficient communities by working with the community –– so that hopes become realities and the cycle reaffirms itself. We believe our unique framework provides a way to reach beyond the pleas and the headlines, as well as the occasional miracle, to result in rebuilding neighborhoods, restoring dignity, and rejuvenating the spirit. It only starts with Haïti. We invite you to come to be a part of something greater than yourself!

Community Refined

We came because of the earthquake. We stayed because of the people.
On January 12, 2010, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck and devastated the island nation of Haïti. In 35 seconds, over 316,000 people lost their lives and more than 1.5 million lost their homes.

There are many communities of resilient, hard-working people in Haïti. They are industrious, humble, vibrant, creative, and hospitable people. They are not looking for handouts, but rather for partnership and the tools to create change and an opportunity to experience the basic life essentials of good health, a home, employment and education for their children and themselves. These fundamental needs are a human right of normal life. They are not unlike anyone in the world who desires a good and fulfilling life.

First-stop: Petit-Goâve, Haïti

The work started in 2010, continues with progress. We are collaborating and supporting efforts of the local peasant associations in the coastal town of Petit-Goâve, just 42 miles from Port-Au-Prince. Our goal is to see the Peasant Associations’ visions realized and our mission accomplished.
